In the fall of 1958, the pulp magazine "Strange Fate" published the article, "A Conning of the Wealthy." which recounted the tale of Tantos in 1932. Included in the article was a picture of an amateur illustration that was said to have been "copied down from memory by a wealthy socialite and based on a book Tantos held.." Adelia Samperson's grandniece, Summer Falkner, was friends with a reporter for this magazine and it has been thought that the page could have been from Adelia's diary although it had never been mentioned before. Doubts of it's authenticity have been raised by other Fortean scholars since the magazine was in the habit of creating their own facts to fit the particular story they were publishing that month.
