I obtained a copy of a script for the first episode. The basic outline of this script and the first episode are basicly the same. However, I had heard stories and such talking about how the Haxan guys had to bumb down the original story because the FOX people thought it was too scary. My question is, is there another more original script for Fearsum? Was there scripts that FOX turned down, due to being to scary and such, that you guys still have? I'm very curious in hearing about and if ever possible reading some of this scripts. Hurdy gur, Freak_O_Pedia

Here is a Question? It probably is semantics though, Fox has the rights to freakylinks but do they own the rights to Fearsum?

They thought it was too SCARY?! Isn't that the point to making it a good show? I think FOX had it in for FL the whole time... How much did you pay for that script? There was a script I wanted off of ebay but somebody bought it...I was willing to pay 30 bucks for the damn thing too!

A scarier version? Oooh, interesting. I would very much like to see, if it's true.

I got my copy of the script from a good buddy Case Wright. It's a little bit edgier but I didn't see any reason why it had been changed at all. I'm interested knowing how many other versions of the script there might be or if there are other scripts that never made it still hanging around. Hurdy gur, Freak_O_Pedia

David (Goyer) and I did several versions of the pilot before all hell broke loose and then they (the folks that replaced David and I) rewrote our last draft a few more times after that so I have no idea what version you might have. Regardless of what draft you have, however, I'm sure there are others. But I don't even have any copies anymore, I don't think.
And, yes, one of Fox's main complaints was that our pilot was 'too dark' and 'too scary'.

Which is ironic, considering every bad review Freakylinks ever got, complained that it was 'too light' and 'not scary enough'.

You know, online I found the original script to "Cabin by the lake" before it was rewritten. It sucks ass. I mean, it really does. It's so different and is a poor excuse for a movie, and the guy who wrote it must have had his mind in the gutter the whole time. It's a TV movie, not some third class rated R movie. Naked woman here, swear there, sexual content here, etc...ugh, distasteful. Every character in it is a cliche. I'm glad they rewrote it.
Anywho, thought I'd get that out. I would like to see a copy of the first FL script. Is there any way you can post it online? Maybe either type it (which would be a lot of work) or scan it and then post it somewhere? It might be much to ask...just wanted to know. I'd like to see just how dark it was...there's absolutely nothing too dark about a show like that. Darkness adds depth, just as long as the characters remain the same. That was done beautifully in "Live Fast, Die Young."
And Space, like I said, FOX had it in for the show the whole time.
In the words of Agent Pierce on Roswell (relate this to freakylinks versus FOX however you want): "It's not that you're part alien, it's that you're part human" (note: after saying that Pierce shackled Max's arms to the chair and did another torture method on him...)

Exactly Linsey, for a show like that it's very hard to get too dark. I love dark. FL can take a lot in that way, both on the dark side and the funny side. I would love to get a chance to read a more original (darker) version.

Now knowing even my version is a lighter version I'm even more interested in knowing what the actual script was like. Come on Gregg search for that script. Now knowing that what all of us have read and saw on television was a watered down version, is there a way to take what you guys wrote and start trying to market it as a movie? Return it to it's original title of Fearsum? Can I see a raise of hands of those who would want to see a full length dark and scary movie called Fearsum by the guys of Haxan? Hurdy gur, Freak_O_Pedia

Ooh! Ooh! *raises hand*
But what kind of movie would it be? Would it be based on the actual freakylinks? Or something LIKE freakylinks? We need specifics! Or is it a surprise?

'tis a cool idea. The ideas David and I started with were quite epic and I've always thought it would make a cool feature but it would bare (bear?) (bayer?) (bar?) little resemblance to FL. Hmmmm . . . .

Well, there ya have it-- Is it different enough, that a few character name-changes might make it 'legally distinct' from FL?
I think you ought to go for it! Make it a film!
But see, this has been my ulterior motive all along-- cuz I know Haxan... if you make it a film, there's likely to be a web-portion, too... tee hee.

Muse, I'm sure there would be some way you could order it online. Like, there's this film with Joel Bissonnette in it (Arnaud) called "Looking for Leonard." It's a canadian film, and not too famous, more like an underground/independant film, but I can buy it if I wanted to online. Maybe off ebay, or from it's own website. I've been wanting it for a while (I've never seen it before). Besides, I'm sure HaxanGregg would make it available for you, you're a fan.

but it would bare (bear?) (bayer?) (bar?) Â little resemblance to FL. Yeah like that stops movies like Fear.com from copying The Ring? As the old saying goes, "There is nothing new under the sun." I still think with a few modifications it would make a great full feature. Hurdy gur, Freak_O_Pedia

*raises hand* That's alright Gregg. We'd love to see it anyway. I mean if you make it slightly like FreakyLinks or not, we're devoted fans. Fearsum would break box office I think. 'tis a cool idea. The ideas David and I started with were quite epic and I've always thought it would make a cool feature but it would bare (bear?) (bayer?) (bar?) little resemblance to FL. Hmmmm . . . .

I'm very curious in hearing about and if ever possible reading some of this scripts. Hey Freak! Do you think you could send that copy to MondoStrange? He's been working on a FreakyLinks comic book for like two years now and I'm sure he could use all the Haxan help he can get. In the words of Agent Pierce on Roswell (relate this to freakylinks versus FOX however you want): "It's not that you're part alien, it's that you're part human" (note: after saying that Pierce shackled Max's arms to the chair and did another torture method on him...) Haha Linsey. Good one.

Hey Freak_O_Pedia! Good to see you dropping by more often. Mondo actually has a copy now and we're hoping to make that one of the prizes in the upcoming FreakyLinks.tv relaunch contest. Fingers crossed that'll be soon. Stay tuned and freaky!
