I didn't personally know Neal, so whether or not it's appropriate for me to be posting here... I'm not sure.
But if it is okay, I just wanted to say that... Reading everything that has been said about Neal on here the past few days, seeing all of the stories and pictures about him, I can't help but feel like I lost a friend as well.
Neal seemed a lot like me. Goofy yet caring and passionate about his work. The fact that he was lost to us doing something he enjoyed so much should be a comfort, but... when is it ever really a comfort to lose somebody.
I'll try to keep this short, because if it isn't appropriate for me to be posting here, there won't be much to complain about. But judging from what everybody has said here, I've come to conclusions:
a.) I hope one day to have a group of friends care about me as much as you obviously care about Neal. If anything could be given credit to Neal for, it would be the character of the people he surrounded himself with. He was loved, and you have all made that very clearly. And to me, friend's reminiscing about another friend who has passed on with good humor, sincere warmness, and a touch of grief... Well... That's just about the best way to honor somebody's spirit in my opinion. I think it not only show's what a quality person Neal was, but what quality people you all are.
and
b.) Neal will be greatly missed. But never forgotten.
My condolences to you all.
