Oh, trust me, I know ALL about this book. Loren Coleman lives here in Maine (not to mention his cryptozoology museum that I want to go to oh-so-badly is here too). Derek Barnes has an interview with him on the freakylink site. Click the link to read 20 Questions with Loren Coleman.

I've read some of the Cryptozoology A to Z book. Not bad. Some of the things in there interested me quite a bit, and I was surprised they had it in the school library. I didn't read most of it, just some, but I should get it again (or even buy it) and take notes or something. I used to want to be a cryptozoologist. I still have not gotten around to e-mailing Mr. Coleman. I want more details about his museum. I think you need to make an appointment or something to get in though. I'm sure anything is worth going there. I wanna see the thunderbird, dammit!

Thanks for the link, Linsey.  I will check it out.   Grin

I had a feeling that some of the Freakylinks peeps in particular would be very familiar with Loren Coleman.  I kinda found him through reading The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel - also an interesting read.

I love reading about such things - and remember Coleman well from several Unsolved Mysteries profiles of odd things.

I think meeting him would be most interesting.  I think you should go - and let us know how it goes.

That WOULD be cool, yes?  Grin

You're welcome. I'll probably go during the summer when I have more time. A nice warm walk around the city would do me good, and then we will visit the wonderful museum...mmm...can't wait! Thunderbird, here I come!

Maybe I should do research on the museum before I go so I know what I'm getting into. To see what I can expect.

You'll like it. There's quite a bit of interesting info you can receive. I think they even talk about things that weren't real but people thought were real, like a globster that was found on the beach. Turned out to be just a decomposing whale or something. It's weird how they blame all these strange dead sea creatures on being basking sharks instead of being a dinosaur or something. I look at the pic and I see the decomposing "shark" and I think "that looks nothing like a shark." Hmm...a cover up? I also found the "Ice Man" story interesting where they found a cro-magnum man trapped in ice. Oh, and the coelacanth is a good read.

Oh I love to read stories like that! I read a book when I was little called "Mysteries of the Unexplained" (I think that was the title). It had a story of Bigfoot I think from the 1920's or 30's where they caught and killed this creature and took a picture of it. It looked half-ape, half-man. I wonder if it was real. It also had stories and pics on spontaneous human combustion and other myths. I really enjoyed reading it. I'm putting this book on my wish list. Thanks again for the info Luna and Linsey  Cheesy

No problem. I think I might have that "Mysteries of the Unexplained" book too. If not, it has the same stuff. I like looking in that once in a while too (once in a great while, sad to say). Between the different types of stories are pics of paintings that Michelangelo did of the Sistine Chapel. Some of them are creepy ones. It has info on the Jersey Devil and Lochness Monster and stuff like that, with pics and descriptions. Even the relations of aliens to parts in the bible or paintings.
I have a question. There's a fish I'm looking for info about online. I saw it once on Animal Planet or something. I can't find any info on it at all...I'm starting to wonder if it was just a dream, but I don't think it was. The fish, I think they said, has eyelids. It's very large and very flat (it was thin) and is greyish or pale. It was one of the most interesting things I've ever seen, and I want to know what the hell it was! It is in some sort of aquarium. I think they mentioned that it had the appearance of being cut right in half from the middle of its body (or it WAS cut in half and survived but I doubt that was it). It also had fins on the top and bottom of its body, and I don't remember seeing any of the sides...maybe I just didn't notice. My dad said it looked like a giant angelfish, but I didn't see the resemblance. Does anyone know what fish I'm talking about?

Gohan, there's this show I used to watch when I was little...I think it was called Mel's Diner, unless my memory is starting to get screwy from old age. Roll Eyes Anyway, one of the waitresses was Flo, yeah I think that was her name and anyway, she'd always got mad at the owner Mel and said to him, Mel, kiss my grits!! Gohan, I must say you remind me of that show everytime you say that cute little thing you say Wink Grin

Linsey, you have me intrigued now. I will try to help you find this very elusive fish!  Cheesy

Thanks EO.

Whoa...I impulsively wrote something here earlier today and had to erase it. Sorry. Okay, so thanks EO. Any luck yet finding it? I tried lastnight but gave up. I wish I could see the thing that they had on it again. Maybe I should ask my dad since I think he saw it too.

You would love this book, EO.  It's right up your alley.   Wink

And Linsey, I am also interested in knowing what your mystery fish is.

Hey Linsey, I'm a bit curious to know that impulsive thing you typed. I do it all the time.  Wink No luck yet with the fish. Did it resemble a platapus? Hey maybe it's in this book.  Cheesy Thanks Luna, I will get it, I'll check out my fave book source. Smiley
