Reality is not my world.

« on: April 10, 2004, 06:34:40 PM »

I'm still not finished reading up on all that stuff, but I'm getting somewhere now. I'm somewhere at October 2000 and cool things are starting to come up on there.

One hilarious vid of Derek trying to create his own spring-heeled boots (with somewhat limited success), which got me laughing so hard I nearly fell off my chair.

One somewhat freakish scary voice diary that kinda left me wanting to know more (there's probably a FreakoPedia entry to go with it but I think I forgot).

And one page that I could not access! It's the diary of 10/11/2000 that gives me problems. It wants to redirect me to an error message somewhere on the freakylinks.com domain which of course doesn't exist anymore. I think that entry is missing. Could anyone take a look at it, because the excerpt on the main diary page is making me very curious indeed!! Smiley

Edit: I just found another hilarious vid, of Derek and Jason singing some wacky song about "chumming", I have no idea what they're on about but it sounds funny. Cheesy

The chumming video is one of my favorite songs to start randomly singing. My friend and I just will start out and do the whole thingI think that was when they were trying to find the thunderbird, and they were throwing out meat as bait outside the car. I think that's what they meant by "chumming," because "chum" is what they use as bait for sharks, so maybe it's the same for thunderbirds.
I'm looking for the spring heel vid right now. I don't remember that one! I wanna see it! Thanks Muse.

By the way, have you been getting this stuff from the freakylinks portfolio? I can't seem to get the entry from 10/11/00 on there either. It directs me to the porn site. So I get these words "You must be 18 or older to visit this site."

The link's probably screwed up-- isntead of leading to the archive, it leads to the actual freakylinks domain-- which is being used (and abused) by someone else.

The same thing happened to me, when I was browsing thru the diary about a month ago.

I think it's just missing, and the resulting 404 error page is linked to the fl.com domain. But whatever it is, something's wrong.

I can't get over that October 13th entry. It's so good! I'm a total multimedia nut so I love that it's sound. And Derek sounds so upset, I wish that I'd been there then; I know that it's fake and about three years old, but I still want to send "Derek" emails of love and support and stuff... Ethan gets that across so well, and with just his voice!

I plucked the file out of my temp. internet files and saved it, I just have to have it... I think I might do the same with all the multimedia files on the site and stick them all on my laptop which is slowly turning into the FreakyLinks Machine... A FreakyLinks Freak and Multimedia Nut must find ways to keep all the FL Multimedia she can find! Or, that's my excuse anyway. Grin

I'm going to look at my CD-ROM archive tonight and see what's up with that missing diary entry ... I think Gunther must have stolen it!  Angry

This page is now fixed:

http://www.haxan.com/portfolio/freakylinks/WWWFRE~1.COM/DIARY/2000/101100~1.HTM

And some mighty fine shots of Sherlock Bones on that entry too.

For the geeky, curious and tragically well-armed Freakylinks triviasters, here's what was wrong with that entry:

Some of the entries in 2000 were designed to go up on the same day as an original broadcast date of an episode. What we really wanted was for those entries to appear "during the episode" -- but episodes occur at different times for different people (based upon what time zone your TV lives in.) So there was a little script on that page that was supposed to detect if the broadcast had happened yet (and send you to a "file not found" if it wasn't.)

But the script didn't get archived. So the system thought the broadcast hadn't happened yet, and tried to send you to a URL at that now-nasty-porn-site.

Which means now it is back ... and along with it, a new photo of Derek & Jason at "Woods of Wonder", three shots of Sherlock Bones wearing Springheel Jack shoes, and a photo of an Impala on the moon.

Thanks Brian!
I have to say that those are LOVELY photos of Sherlock Bones, and a wonderful pic of Derek and Jason to greet me once I enter the page.

Thanks Brian!

You can never have too many pictures of Sherlock Bones. Or Impalas on the moon, for that matter.
