You guys may remember a little chatroom called "Freakylinks Fever". I was moderator of that little room-- I unmercifuly stole it from its original owner, and made it my home.. and it was a legend! Though a legend not nearly as big as that of Freakylinks.com!!
I could NOT possibly detail the history of strife that goes along with that room. But a part of it is, I requested another free Beseen room at some point, it was to be a replacement...eventually, I named that extra room-- coincidentally?--, "The Back Room", with the intent that if fights took place in the Fever, I could say "Hey-- TAKE IT TO THE BACK ROOM!!"
Oh-- and I'M THE FIRST POST I'M THE FIRST POST!!!!!!

Thanks for christening haxan | dialogue with the first post. I actually used the name 'back room' after trying to find a term for a witch's room.
That's all that came back in searches -- simplicity, and it sounded good...
the back room is officially open.

Ahhh-- Freakylinks Fever. Wow. Touched, am I, that you guys remember me, too...
Well, the Fever stayed alive for at least a year after Freakylinks.com shut down... it was a long time, anyway.
Then I got an e-mail, sadly informing me that Beseen, the system that provided free chatrooms such as the Fever, was closing it's proverbial doors, due to the high cost of prioviding every single jaded websurfer in the WORLD with their own free chatroom. I imagine there weren't too many people who ever registered for those 'gold' rooms'-- most users were probably content with the free ones.
Hard to make a profit when yer widgets are free.

Tee hee, ah, spacey. I remember that place very well. Remember how people used to make fun of me there? Memories, hehe. It was fun reviewing the chats other people had. But that place was S-L-O-W. Sometimes people would already write something, post it in, but the other person wouldn't see it until a minute later. It was a nice experience though. My first chat room I was ever in.
I think I even remember the date the fever died. August 19th, right? I'm not sure of the year. 2001? I would have been there to say goodbye, but coincidentally on the same day my internet also died...I think it was down for a week or so. You know how horrible that was???
Geez, I talk a lot. I guess it's the freaker in me coming out after so long.

Yah, that was the date Beseen told me; August 19th- but I think it stayed up until the 22nd. But 2001? Hmm-- I THINK it lasted until 2002.
Yeah; Freakyresearch 2.0 debuted in Nov 2001--it had been around a good while when the Fever was 'chilled'. So Aug of 2002.

I started my site in 4/01 as a geocities site and with in the first year gained it's own domain, freakopedia.com. It's one of the few FreakyLinks dedicated sites still up and going. It's all due to wonderful fellow freakers such as SpaceMonkey and many others who have helped keep that site alive.

I'm sad to say I was never on your cool message board. My first board was Neptin's Blair Witch Fan Club board which I joined sometime in August or Sept. of 2001. I made a lot of great friends there, like LunaSea and others. I was totally hooked!! Now I'm so excited about this new board!! Thanks again for bringing it back...what was that again... bring something back?? eeek, I forgot the secret, what was the secret!!! :/  |

Ohhh, MAN you don't KNOW how much I miss that room. It was my 'Club 21'...
There were other free messageboards out there.. I could have done another one & called it the 'fever'. But it just wouldn't be the same... the beseen system was PERFECT. Worked like an IM screen, but it left the last few comments up like a messageboard... so the next visitor would see the last convo, even hours later.
Sure wish Litlred would come & post-- it was her room before it was mine.
