Here We Go!

« on: September 23, 2011, 01:44:40 PM »

We had so much fun with last years Halloween thread that I thought I'd start the ball rolling on this years. Yeah, we're a little over a month away but I hit the three seasonal Halloween stores and really got in the Halloween mood.

Hearkening back to my post about old comic ads that would give you a life-size Frankenstein for a dollar (of course it was just a plastic sheet poster) I really liked the Spirit Halloween stores exclusive six and a half feet tall Frankenstein.

http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/lifesize-frankenstein/

Sadly the price is a bit killer--- still--- something to think about.

Costume-wise--- I haven't decided. Classic Wolfman?-- maybe. Grim Reaper from last year?--- meh. Vampire?--- even more meh. Jeffrey Combs' Dr. Vannacutt from House on Haunted Hill--- hmm--- tempting. Cool

Right now I'm trying to get together Halloween music for a friend's party. All the CDs you see at these Halloween stores have good songs but they're usually terrible cover versions of the originals. Sometimes only the originals "feel" right.

Hopefully I infect a few of you with this Halloween vibe I'm on. Chime in often.  Grin

Egads Shadow, you've beaten me to the punch. Seriously just signed on to make this thread as I was on earlier and saw no activity! Great minds, I guess.

My girlfriend and I already have our costumes in order... for the most part. I still have last minute things to deal with but the costumes are going to be good. We're going out as Abby and McGee from NCIS. We figured it would be cute because my name is actually Timothy McGee and have almost the same persona, and it's my girlfriend's favorite show... there will be pictures.

Daniel Roebuck, our very own Stu Carmichael, is not only an actor with a long list of roles in movies and TV, he's also a collector of horror and movie memorabilia.

As we're heading into the Halloween season, I thought everyone would enjoy a browse of his collection. Here's the link: http://www.danielroebuck.com/collection_index.htm

Impressive, ain't it?

re: collection...  Shocked Wow! That is an awesome collection. My uncle would be green with envy.

As for a costume this year, I really don't know. I did have some ideas, but due to unfortunate events, my budget is severely limited. But I'll see what happens. If a costume's out of the question, I may pay a visit to Cafe' Press and buy a Silent Hill T-Shirt, sporting that creepy circular symbol. But I'll see what happens. I have this week to decide.

I'm in the dark as to my costume - I went as a zombie Perkins waiter for this years Zombie Pub Crawl in Minneapolis, so I could bring that back again, or I could bring out the pirate costume I put together a couple years ago that I like.  Or something else.

As far as music is concerned - you can never go wrong with the Interview With the Vampire soundtrack.  I used it all 7 years or so I did my haunted house (making additions each year, of course).  Just awesome creepy music.

Costume update: Sadly, I couldn't afford to do a T-Shirt OR a costume (I had my heart set on going as American McGee's ALICE). BUT... thanks to JC Penny's I was able to get some lovely items, that I can wear both on Halloween AND all year round. Soooo... this year for Halloween, I'm going as: a gothic 'Hottie'  Wink

Music wise: it's too bad one couldn't  somehow get the ORIGINAL soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's 'The Shining'. That one always made my blood freeze alittle... Another good one -of course- would be the Silent Hill 1 video game soundtrack, and the Dead Space soundtrack.  Roll Eyes lol

Hope nobody minds, but I thought I would share this youtube clip, since Halloween is nearly upon us. You may think me silly, but this clip never ceases to entertain me OR make me smile.  So thanks for humoring me, and hope you enjoy:  "Dancing Skeletons!"   Roll Eyes yay!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Thought I'd drop by and give my best to all you freaks since it is now a little past the witching hour.

Nice Disney classic there, Garnet. I'll leave you all with a Halloween favorite of mine---

The Midnight Hour

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVrYiHjPN2Y

Edit: If any of you are interested in the soundtrack to The Midnight Hour, (looks in SpaceMonkey's direction), I finally tracked it down earlier this month.

It's got some great stuff on there!

Thanks, Garnet! Great pics, FC!

I'll say that my October was, overall, hectic but fun. My friend's party, that I was hunting down good, original version music for, came off WAY better than our expectations! Cheesy The down side of that was that I sort blew my Halloween mood before the actual day.

Oh well. Not a problem, because today there's all the 50% off sales to stock up on for next year! Grin Last year I lucked out on make-up at .25 cents a tube. So get out there and clean up on some of the deals to be had.

Pics on the way!
