By the way he is smoking and holding the cigarette it is in the essence of Vince. Adam didn't strike me as a smoker.

Undecided That's kind of weird. So what does that mean? Are you suggesting that Vince has somehow shapeshifted into Adam ? But that sort of doesn't make sense. Especially since Adam has contacted Derek, time and again, via dreams... Why would Vince go through the trouble of posing as Adam?

Ahhh! Remember the Harbingers episode? Vince talked to Derek in the dream world after knocking him out. It was the only way to communicate where it was safe.

Vince knew how to jump in and out of the dream world. Who knows what can be done in there. Remember the black kid sitting next to Derek and all of a sudden it was Vince.

Things to ponder.

Cheesy Oh snap! That's right! Sad But wait a minute... does that leave the possibility that Adam really IS dead and not like Vince ?  That's a sad possibility...

It's too bad Freakylinks didn't make it to season two. I think it would have been very interesting if the gang  could have dug deeper into the nature of Vince, Adam's suicide, Virginia Dare... and perhaps discover once and for all if Adam was somehow 'alive' like Vince... it would have been very interesting to see. It have also been interesting to see MORE about the amulet, and perhaps see Virginia Dare return...

On the other hand--- maybe this fierce method of smoking is common among people who are in the same 'state' as Adam and Vince... a case could be made, it is connected to the use of tobacco in Native American rituals and magic ceremonies.

A quick Google search found this site:

http://www.fairpoint.net/~mrtedd/srm/magic.htm

A treatise on the joys of ritual smoking, which suggests the use of tobacco can aid in divination,  alter and enhance the user's perceptions ,  and influence their dreams.

Someone has to point this out, and I don't mean to sound like a dick but... Maybe Adam smokes? I mean, come on. We don't know that much about Adam because the show's canon ended way too soon. I mean, there's no evidence against the idea of Adam being a smoker. I mean, there has to be some serious stress with what he was in to, so maybe that was his coping mechanism. Granted it didn't work very well, but still there is that possibility and probability. Just because Derek didn't smoke, doesn't mean Adam didn't.

@ Spacemonkey: I never really thought of it that way, re: smoking and its connection to Native American rituals. That's really deep!

Also, you could be right, FC, that Adam's smoking could have been a result from the stress he was under while uncovering the truth. But Idk... something tells me that he may not have been a smoker though in life; it just doesn't seem like him. But that's just my gut feeling...   Wink

Agreed! I hadn't seen that angle on it at all. Good one, Space!

Just because Derek didn't smoke, doesn't mean Adam didn't.

Ex-smoker. One of the diary entries mentions how Derek had quit smoking sometime before the show tied in.

I agree, Garnet. Adam seemed to be Derek's mirror opposite. So it would reason that if Derek smoked, Adam probably wouldn't. That still leaves us with the mystery image though.  Wink

I think I'm kind of leaning towards SpaceMonkey's theory though... I think it's an interesting twist.

Notice how he holds the cigarette, it is the same way Vince holds his. :Ponder:

Idk.. maybe that's a type of 'mannerism' associated with beings who are like Vince...?  Undecided
