Not sure if any of you follow Syfy's "Sanctuary" -- I do.  They play around with using actual historical and literary characters, and stick them into the show in odd ways.

Nicola Tesla is a recurring character-- genetic experiments have turned him into a vampire.  He wants to take over the world, but otherwise he's actually a charming guy.  Believe it or not, he's one of the good guys.

The 'Sanctuary' is a worldwide network.... each Sanctuary is a place where 'abnormals' --- beings who are somewhat human, or cratures possessed of near-human intelligence, which the general public might consider "monsters" are welcome to come and live in peace.

With the season 4 premiere, they did a time-travel episode back to 1898, where Spring-Heeled Jack has committed several murders---  he looks very ghoulish in the show... inhuman. He, of course, can jump from street level to roof level in a single bound. The ONLY bad point is they made him a killer---"Druitt" one of the recurring characters (who is/was Jack the Ripper)  was being accused of new murders in 1898-- the real killer this time,  was Spring Heeled Jack, who tends to kill the odd person here & there to establish his territory.

He ended up accepting the offer of Sanctuary, and actually has now become the FIRST official resident of the Sanctuary, as part of the show's canon.

I just love the overlapping of Freakylinks' mascot, with one of my fave shows  Grin Just wish they hadn't made him a heartless murderer.

Undecided Ah man...! I was trying not to get sucked into another tv show... but Yea, I have to agree with Freak Central, re: following 'Sanctuary' now. I ALSO feel compelled to check out the upcoming series: Grimm too...
