I honestly
hate the practice of the mini-marathon that SyFy and it's sister channel Chiller seem to be so in love with. I'd much rather have the program air one episode a day all week instead of marathons each day of different programs. It's an overdose--- programming for recorders.
do you figure its simply due to lack of new content, or do you think its due to popularity?
I'll go out on a limb here and say that it's actually popular. Chiller first started airing FreakyLinks in March of '08 along with a similar program with an equally short run called
The Others. Both programs seemed to reach the end of their deals in January '09. It's FreakyLinks that returned after a long absence and The Others hasn't been seen again.
I'd love to see the ratings numbers that FreakyLinks got on it's original one episode a week run on Chiller as well as the numbers for these random marathons.
The one thing that really pisses me off with the current showings on Chiller since it's '09 return is how at first they monkeyed with where the commercial breaks were and they also were and still are trimming bits and pieces off the episodes. Just today they faded to commercial early when Chapin is on the roof of the car after wrecking it in
Live Fast, Die Young. I'd also almost swear that they've sped the soundtrack up slightly. Do we really need 2 more minutes of commercials each hour?
On the other hand I have to praise Chiller to the sky for at least continuing to bring the american public FreakyLinks. They've aired it and shown it more love than FOX ever did. For that I am grateful.
