Some twine, the occasional stick, and revisiting the big screen…

Last night our man Ed was able to revisit BLAIR WITCH on the big screen once again at the Frederick Film Festival. And not just the theatrical version - but the original Sundance print.

…su-weet.

I’m sure he’ll have a few nostalgic thoughts coming your way soon enough, keep visiting.

Meanwhile, for those who ever wondered about those stick figures, here’s a glimpse into Woods Movie - the Making of The Blair Witch Project, complete with… uhm… “outtake” if you will…

ParaAbnormal Saves Christmas

ParaAbnormal

Not many of you may realize - but Ed and Jamie have been up to a lil sumfin’ for some time; a well kept secret if you will. And one that is not so secret any longer…

Meet Ken, Joe, Tony, Bunky and the ever so delicious Wendy. They’re losers by day, and ghost hunters by night.

From the garage of his disapproving grandmother’s home, soldier of all that is good - Ken Livingston - Chief Investigator and Sensai of the Supernatural, leads a team of supernatural investigators in a search for truth, justice and poltergeists…

Tony Kryczeskiwicz - Tony’s has been fascinated with dead things since childhood despite the efforts of numerous therapists and court-ordered psychiatrists.

Joe Schmidt - Joe’s mainly in it for the food. He also suffers from irritable bowel syndrome.

Alexander “Bunky” Hunt - Bunky’s team responsibilities include loading the van and bringing snacks.

Wendy - She’s our Psychic/Fortune Teller. Wendy uses her “gifts” to assist police with cold cases and also for various birthday and bachelor parties.

In each episode, our heroes confront para-abnormalities that no other team would dare — busting ghosts caught on sex tapes, braving motel rooms that kill (and have no cable or turndown service), and seducing succubi.

All this and more can be found at www.paraabnormal.tv

ParaAbnormal is written by Jamie Nash and directed by Jamie Nash and Eduardo Sanchez. Yes - the one and very same.

…And one who celebrates a birthday today.

Happy birthday Ed from myself, your fellow brohorts at Haxan and ParaHorts from beyond.

And it’s good to know, no matter how old we get each and every year, you still believe in Santa Claus….

Joshua Leonard Begins Humping July 10th!

HUMPDAY

It’s been a decade since Ben (Mark Duplass) and Andrew (our man Josh Leonard) were the bad boys of their college campus. Ben has settled down and found a job, wife, and home. Andrew took the alternate route as a vagabond artist, skipping the globe from Chiapas to Cambodia. When Andrew shows up unannounced on Ben’s doorstep, they easily fall back into their old dynamic of macho one-upmanship. Late into the night at a wild party, the two find themselves locked in a mutual dare: to enter an amateur porn contest together. But what kind of boundary-breaking, envelope pushing porn can two straight dudes make? After the booze and “big talk” run out, only one idea remains—they will have sex together…on camera. It’s not gay; it’s beyond gay. It’s not porn; it’s art. But how exactly will it work? And more importantly, who will tell Anna (Delmore), Ben’s wife? Writer/director Lynn Shelton, director of My Effortless Brilliance and recipient of the “Someone to Watch Award” at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards, expertly mines the biggest ironies of the male ego to hilarious effect. HUMPDAY is a buddy movie gone wild.

On a personal note, the number of folks Josh can get into seats THIS WEEKEND will determine the scope of this small, truly independent film’s eventual release into the wider world. Please help him by spreading the word. ANY screening this (opening) weekend will go towards the all important “per screening” count…matinees, evenings..whenever is most convenient for you.

Other cities opening on the 17th & the 24th (Including LA on the 24th). For NY friends, Josh will be doing a Q&A at the Angelika for the 7:30 PM on Friday & introducing the 10PM.

The 2007 Florida Music Festival

Florida Music Festival

Tomorrow I’ll be part of a panel, Marketing Your Films and Videos, which is part of the 2007 Florida Music Festival here in Orlando. The panel is from 3:30 PM - 4:45 PM in Room A at the downtown Marriott. Here’s the address:

Marriott Downtown Orlando
400 West Livingston Street
Orlando, Florida 32801

Some great folks on the panel, including Roger Moore from the Orlando Sentinel and Rich Grula from the UCF Film program, so I’m looking forward to a spirited discussion. I’ll probably talk a bit about our film festival strategy for The Blair Witch Project as well as some of the crazy non-traditional marketing campaigns I’ve been doing with Campfire.

Speaking of Campfire, in August I’m finally moving to New York. With Campfire booming, I’ve been flying to New York about once a week, so it’s time to make the move up north.

Orlando has been really good to me — I have a “Goodbye Orlando” post cooking for the near future, but in the meantime swing on by the FMF and say hello. Hope to see you there!
