SEVENTH MOON soundtrack review!

Seventh Moon Erm5996
by Randal D. Larson

The spooky score for one of the GhostHouse series of low-budget horror films from 2008, SEVENTH MOON, has been issued on CD by ERM Media. The film, directed by Eduardo Sánchez, is a scary picture about an American couple (Amy Smart and Tim Chiou) vacationing in China who are caught up in the “festivities” of the full moon of the seventh lunar month, when the gates of hell are supposed to open and the dead freed to roam among the living – and guess what happens?

First day of PREP on THE POSSESSION

Word to all,

TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 2010

So it has officially begun. THE POSSESSION is moving into production!

Picked up producer Gregg Hale from BWI. Drove out to Hagerstown to look at two possible houses for Molly’s joint in the movie. Pretty important since 90% of the film takes place there. House has to be creepy but not haunted house looking. Has to be believable that someone would live in that thing.

The houses were good. Second one was best. No one around so we walked the area around it, peeked in through windows. Looks good inside, at least what we could see through the windows. Definitely a fixer-upper but not a complete disaster.

Then we went to get Gregg’s rental car, then home to turn our playroom into Gregg’s room/office.

I’m telling you, when we say low-budget feature, we mean low-budget feature!

VARIETY: “Blair Witch” shingle takes “Possession”

Amber Entertainment, Haxan Films prep horror feature
By DAVE MCNARY

Amber Entertainment and Haxan Films — the banner behind “The Blair Witch Project” — are scaring up “The Possession” as part of a multipicture deal.

Amber and Haxan plan to start shooting in Maryland in October with “Blair Witch” director Eduardo Sanchez helming from a script he co-wrote with Jamie Nash.

“The Possession,” which explores the thin line between demonic possession and psychosis, starts off as a simple horror film about things that go bump in the night but slowly turns into a thriller about the evil power that exists inside one troubled young woman.

Robin Cowie and Gregg Hale are producing for Haxan and Mark Ordesky and Jane Fleming are producing for Amber, the venture formed last year by the fomer New Line execs along with Ileen Maisel and Brit documentarian Lawrence Elman. Bob Eick and Andy Jenkins are exec producing “The Possession.”

The Blair Witch Project” took in more than $140 million domestically in 1999 as an indie horror sensation, thanks to a variety of viral marketing campaigns. Worldwide the film grossed $250 million and the sequel did $48 million.

Since then, Haxan has produced two features — “Altered,” released by Rogue Pictures in 2006, and “Seventh Moon,” released by Lionsgate in 2008 — and two TV series. Over the past 10 years, the principals in Haxan have also been involved with various Internet companies creating “transmedia” marketing campaigns and e-commerce Web solutions.

Seventh Moon Soundtrack Now Available!

Seventh Moon Soundtrack

The Official Motion Picture Soundtrack for Seventh Moon is now available for your inquiring ears. Blair Witch fans take notice, this soundtrack was composed by Haxan’s very own Tony Cora who also scored the sound and effects for good ol’ Blair.

Tony’s a musician to be reckoned with. I’m proud to own several of his recordings. No two are alike, each one as individual as Tony is himself.

Kent Sparling also takes credit for the soundtrack. Kent’s a visual and recording artist who began composing on the piano after having been asked to leave his elementary school orchestra for inventing harmony counter-melodies on his saxophone. Go figure. Makes sense now.

Rare NOT-NUDE public appearance by Ed Sanchez!

That’s right, for anyone that’s in the Gaithersburg, Maryland area this Halloween and has a few hours to kill, I’ll be hanging out at BEYOND COMICS from 1 to 3 pm, signing whatever I get my hands on, including the first issue of the comic I co-wrote, BLACKBEARD: LEGEND OF THE PYRATE KING!

IMG_2929.JPG

Come by and pick one up! You will not be disappointed. You want to make sure you’re up to speed so that you won’t be left behind for issue two, which has one of the best ATTACKED-WHILE-HAVING-MAJOR-SEX-WITH-A-PROSTITUTE scenes in comic book history!

I’ll probably be talking a lot of BLAIR WITCH crap, too, and there’s a chance that I may perhaps mention the possible Sequel that we might be doing sometime in the future. But maybe not.

So that’s October 31, 2009, from 1 to 3 pm, at BEYOND COMICS, 536 North Frederick Avenue, Gaithersburg, MD, 20877. 301-216-0007.

Hope to see you there! Seriously.
