Hong Kong DAY 3
MONDAY - Woke up a bit bummed about the location problem. Really want to make this thing happen but I can’t wrap my vision around what I’m seeing, you know? We scout tomorrow so hopefully we’ll see some stuff that works.
Pure business day today. We went over and saw some apartments that we might stay at while we shoot. Not as big as the ones we had in Jam-Lando for ALTERED, but this is about as good as it’s going to get in HONG KONG. Very nice and some great amenities as well, like an indoor pool, gym and basketball court. They’re pretty scrict about the rules, though.
After that we had another great lunch and headed to a post production house called DIGITAL MAGIC. Great place with a ton of equipment. We might use them for the tests we’ll run with the DP.
Gregg, Matt and I then headed to do some corporate stuff. We were riding in the taxi by ourselves for the first time so we felt very brave. I even found a TOYS R US but didn’t have time to check it out because we had a dinner meeting.
Met with an Australian chap name Ezra that Rob met while he was here a few months back. Him and his partners were great, they took us to a TOP POT place. They might do some making-of videos for us.
And then back to the hotel for a quick meeting with a DP, Charlie, and a production designer, Ben, both highly recommended by October. Very nice guys and it was cool as shit for them to meet us since they’re both working on a film right now. We talked about my approach to this film and they seemed very open to all the moronity that came out of my mouth. Ben even came up with a brilliant solution to a water problem we’ve been having with the biggest set we have to build. They’re going to send me their reels but these guys are the front-runners for sure.
And that was that. Tired as hell and hoping for a great scouting day tomorrow.
Miss the family like crazy. Looking forward to heading back on Wednesday night.
Peace from Hong Kong.
